I See Your Point

A different view of Johnstown’s Point at the confluence of the Stonycreek and Conemaugh Rivers

“Going up that river was like traveling back to the beginning of the world, when the plants ran wild and the trees were kings.” -Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness

Johnstown's The Point above the Stone Bridge

A different perspective on Johnstown’s Point

Set off on a three hour cruise last week, a trial run for my after dark trip to the Stone Bridge this past weekend. From the Incline Plane ramp to the bridge and back again. It’s the “back again” that takes it out of you. When Heraclitus said, “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man,” I don’t know if he was talking about me, but he was certainly talking about the Stonycreek. As you can see though, the results were well worth the effort. Coming up next: I See Your Point and I’ll Raise You  A Bridge.
